Invitation from President Crowley

Dear Members of the Farmington South Stake,
As we begin 2026, we are excited for what we can learn together as families, as wards,
and as a stake in our study of the Old Testament. While the Old Testament can be
challenging at times, we know that most importantly it is a testament of God’s loving and
watchful care of His children who chose to enter a covenant relationship with Him.

We testify that our loving Heavenly Father continues in our day to invite all his children
to enter into a covenant relationship with Him. We also testify of the joy, power, and
peace that comes to those who honor their covenants with God with all their heart,
might, mind, and strength.

As you consider how you will approach your Old Testament study this year, we remind
you of these words recorded by Nephi in the Book of Mormon:

And the angel spake unto me, saying: These last records, which thou hast seen
among the Gentiles, shall establish the truth of the first, which are of the twelve
apostles of the Lamb, and shall make known the plain and precious things which
have been taken away from them; and shall make known to all kindreds,
tongues, and people, that the Lamb of God is the Son of the Eternal Father, and
the Savior of the world; and that all men must come unto him, or they cannot be
saved. (1 Ne 13:40)

We as a Stake Presidency invite you to use the Book of Mormon to complement your
study of the Old Testament. Here are just a few promises that our latter-day prophets,
seers, and revelators have made to those who diligently study the Book of Mormon:

“My dear brothers and sisters, I promise that as you prayerfully study the Book of
Mormon every day, you will make better decisions—every day. I promise that as
you ponder what you study, the windows of heaven will open, and you will
receive answers to your own questions and direction for your own life. I promise
that as you daily immerse yourself in the Book of Mormon, you can be
immunized against the evils of the day.” (Russell M. Nelson, “The Book of
Mormon—What Would Your Life Be Like without It?” Oct. 2017)

“Where can we find peace and reassurance amidst all the commotion? The Book
of Mormon. We are not the only people to live in troubled times. I testify that the
Book of Mormon is the word of God and was written for our day. It is the source
of assurance and peace in our troubled latter days. As you take time to study the
Book of Mormon, I promise you will notice an increased measure of peace in
your lives.” (David A. Bednar, Facebook, Apr. 30, 2022)

“There is a power in the book which will begin to flow into your lives the moment
you begin a serious study of the book. You will find greater power to resist

temptation. You will find the power to avoid deception. You will find the power to
stay on the strait and narrow path.” (Ezra Taft Benson, October 1986)

In order to help you in your study of the Book of Mormon in conjunction with your Old
Testament study, we have created this section on the Farmington South Stake website
with weekly Book of Mormon cross references that will complement your Come, Follow
Me study. We hope and pray this resource will help you claim the promises made to
those who study the Book of Mormon daily.

May the Lord bless you throughout this coming year.

Sincerely,
The Farmington South Stake Presidency
